Fishing Report for Appomattox River: May 30, 2005

Brandon got back from his honeymoon and we just had to go fishing. Decided to try our luck on the river today. Fished from 12:00 to 3:00. It was a little hot out there so we did not stay long. I managed a nice river bass around 2.5 pounds on a special sinking worm and one small perch. This was the first time I have fished in the Appomattox and I do believe I will be back.

Fishing Report for Lake Chesdin: May 17, 2005

Brandon and I went out this evening from 5:00 till 7:30. We manage 4 keeper bass and one under the limit. Biggest weighing in at 2.15 pounds. We were targeting docks and lilly pads using a Yum Dinger and Senko. These baits seem to be the hot bait on any body of water this year. Brandon even caught a baby catfish on a Senko, I never thought a catfish would run with a Senko. Water temperature was warm but the water was high and stained from the recent rain. Until next time tight lines...

Fishing Report for Offshore Hatteras Island: May 14, 2005

I know it is not Virginia but just wanted to provide an update on the offshore trip. Well we got together to do some offshore fishing this past weekend. Ended up with 7 yellowfin tuna, 2 wahoo, and 2 dolphin. We had one big dolphin get off first thing in the morning. Unfortunately I was on the other end of the line when the fish got off but had a great day out on the water. Brandon hooked into a 6 ft. mako shark that got everyone on the boat excited. He got the shark up to the back of the boat but when the shark saw the boat it was the end of the road. After one turn the line was snapped. I should have pictures up today of the trip and you can check out the May 14th report on www.fishbiteme.com. I can't wait to go again next year.

Fishing Report for Buggs Island: May 7, 2005

Fished the Region 6 Federation tournament at Buggs. Not a very good showing for me. I only had one fish to weight in, a small 1.75lbs. But hey, it's points. Anyways, may mess around at Chesdin the next couple weeks. I know that we don't have many folks on the board yet, but if you hit this and hold info on Chesdin, give me a shout....Tight lines....

Fishing Report for Buggs Island: May 1, 2005

In the pooring down rain (imagine that!), Matt and I set off for Buggs Island. We arrived at North Bend and put in as the rain was just letting up. We fished many of the pockets around North Bend with only one keeper fish. We then made the haul to Rudd's Creek where we had a little more action. Matt caught a solid 3 pound fish about the same time I set the trolling motor down. We caught several more decent fish throughout the afternoon. Will have an update next Monday on the Federation tournament this weekend. Till then, tight lines....
