Current Fishing Reports from around VirginiaUpdated Fishing News: Bass Federation | Bass Insider | Bassmasters | FLW Outdoors Current | July 2005 |June 2005 |May 2005 | April 2005 | March 2005 Fishing Report for Lake Chesdin: July 23, 2005Brandon and I fished local Chesdin tournament with little success. We caught 2 fish under 15, one right at 14.5. Fished all over the lake but had a tough time after the depth finder started to act up. We used everything from topwater to crankbaits to pink floating worms. I caught the 14.5" on a pink worm skipped under a dock. I also lost a good one around 12:30 on a crankbait. Didn't see the fish so we will just have to say it was a carp. LOL We did not stay to watch the weigh in because we were both exhausted. Hopefully next time we will be able to at least get something to weigh in. budda Fishing Report for Private ponds, Dinwiddie: July 10, 2005Brandon and I went out early in the morning to fish a couple of private ponds. I almost forgot how nice fishing on ponds can be. We hit one pond while the top water bite was still on and managed to catch serveral small bass. They were hitting pop'rs and zara spooks. After the top water died down we switched to crankbaits and texas rigged worms. Brandon managed to catch a couple of larger sized bass on a texas rigged worm and we ended the day around 10:30 or so. All in all we had a good day except for the horse that scared the crap out of Brandon. Budda Fishing Report for Lake Chesdin, Virginia: July 09, 2005 Fished Chesdin for only a couple of hours due to a trolling motor malfunction. Managed to catch a couple of fish on topwater baits. The lake was starting to get really muddy from the rain and you would see the mud line coming down the lake. Tried to fish the jug line early but without any power to the trolling motor it was tough. Fishing Report for Lake Lebannon: July 03, 2005I fished a little known lake on Sunday morning with my soon to be father in law. We got to the lake around 7:45 and fished till 11:00. Ended up with a few bass and some brim. All the bass were under 2 pounds but we had a great morning on the water. If you have never heard of Lake Lebanon it is down rt. 10 towards Surry. It is more like three very large ponds and you can get a permit at the local store on Rt. 10. Budda
