James River, Virginia
The tidal James River can be a great place to catch good numbers of bass and even better place for catfish. Over the years the bass population has taken a hit with the multiple dumping sites along the river. Bass can be found though and many local tournaments are run out of both Hopewell and Osborn Landing. Bass tend to locate more in the multiple bays as well as downriver tributaries/creeks. Also, leading into the James is both the Appomattox and the Chickahominy rivers which can hold a good amount of fish. Catfishing is what the James is really known for with several deep holes that on any day can bring the VA state record back to the James River. |
