November 13, 2008November 28, 2007November 21, 2007Late Hunting Report from Brook Valley Hunt ClubI have been too busy to even post a report on our week long trip that all of us take the first week of muzzleloader season in VA. The week for me went by faster than usual and I have been slammed with work since I got back from the trip. We take this trip during the first week of muzzleloader because usually the rut is just starting and we catch the great chase phase of the rut but this year the deer have not been working with us at all. All during archery season John, Brandon, and I saw plenty of deer every sitting. During our week this year none of us (John, Donnie, Ricky, Brandon, Jordan, and myself) really saw many deer while we were stand hunting. The two big bucks below where seen almost by accident. Of course they were definitely not taken by accident. I am working to get all the pictures that I have posted on our hunting gallery section here.
October 29, 2007October 11, 2007First Bow Kill of ‘07 SeasonWell the first day of the '07 bow season turned out to be a hot one! Temps in the high 80's does little for me in the way of sitting in a tree. However, opening morning I had the opportunity to take a small doe. I saw 8 doe during the morning hunt and this one was the best shot opportunity. Folks think that you need to pass on your fawn deer, but with the population density that we have on our hunting grounds, we need to take as many does as we can to keep our buck to doe ratio in check. Not to mention, they are tender and tasty!! Hopefully this weekend with cooling temps we will have another successful hunt. String Music! |
